Erin Slomski-Pritz and Jenny Lesser Holman: Dream Motif
In September 2023, Jack Straw and Arts and Visually Impaired Audiences (AVIA) presented an accessible youth and family art workshop at Jack Straw in conjunction with Erin Slomski-Pritz and Jenny Lesser Holman’s New Media Gallery installation, Dream Motif.
After an audio described tour of the New Media Gallery from Jesse Minkert of Arts and Visually Impaired Audiences, participants were presented an excerpt of the Dream Motif soundscape and learned about the artists’ inspiration and creative process. Erin and Jenny then led an interview recording activity in Jack Straw’s studios with engineer Daniel Guenther to capture stories about dreaming. Participants also recorded instruments and objects inspired by Dream Motif, which were mixed with the interview recordings to create a dream-like soundscape.
