New Jazz Northwest was a 13 episode, one hour radio program based on the digital recordings  of the first two seasons of Earshot’s “New Jazz New City” concerts. The series that went on the air on January 1989, highlighted performances by over 70 jazz musicians from Vancouver, B.C. to Portland, Oregon. The host for this series was the long time jazz producer, Nick Johnson, known to many Captain Baltic of KRAB’s Baltic’s Song -Stop and Bop-Stop.

Both KAOS (89.3) in Olympia and KBCS (90.3) in Bellevue/Seattle broadcasted New Jazz Northwest starting on Friday, January 6, 1989 for 13 consecutive Fridays. Air time on KAOS was from 6-7 p.m. and on KBCS from 7-8 p.m. KSVR in Mount Vernon aired it later on in the year.

We are in the process of digitizing these series. Check back soon for more.
