Jack Straw New Media Gallery

Stelios Manousakis is a Cretan-born composer, performer, researcher and sound artist striving to develop an artistic language that is both visceral and cerebral, communicating in a purely cognitive and experiential level while being complex and multilayered. Manousakis operates in the convergence zone between art and science, composition and performance, western art music and ‘digital folk’ idioms. He currently applies complexity science, cybernetic and biology-inspired models to generate novel musical systems and non-standard sound synthesis methods, often merging algorithmic finesse with the expressivity of improvisation and the immediacy of real-time interaction. He has co-founded several electro-instrumental and multimedia groups and is currently a PhD candidate at the Center for Digital Arts and Experimental Media (DXARTS, University of Washington).

Yann Novak is a sound, video, and installation artist living and working in Los Angeles. His work utilizes different forms of digital documentation as a point of departure. Through the digital manipulation of these sound and image files, his works serve as a translation from documents of personal experiences into an open ended autobiographical narrative. Novak has presented his installation work through solo exhibitions at 323 Projects (CA), Armory Center for the Arts (CA), Las Cienegas Projects (CA), Lawrimore Project (WA), Soundfjord (London, UK) and in two person exhibitions at the Henry Art Gallery (WA), Pøst (CA) and Soil Art Gallery (WA).

Perri Lynch Howard is an artist dedicated to forging new narratives from the front lines of climate change. Working in the context of extreme environments is an essential aspect of her creative practice, expressed through painting, drawing, sculpture and sound. Originally from Marblehead, Massachusetts, Perri received her BA from The Evergreen State College, BFA from the University of Washington, and MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art. Honors include an Artist Trust Fellowship, McMillen Fellowship, Seattle City Artist Grant, and multiple 4Culture Special Project Grants. Perri’s art has a global reach through projects completed in Italy, Portugal, Brazil, Canada, and in South India as a Fulbright Scholar.

Lara Swimmer is a photographer of architecture, whose work examines where built environment and land intersect. She was made an Honorary member of the American Institute of Architects in 2005. Her personal work focuses on the place where the built environment and land meet; whereby she concentrates on how different landscapes have been cultivated to accommodate and sustain the human need.

Robert Zimmer is an architect focused on rational design processes for a vast array of project genres, scales and settings. His work spans the design of public buildings to private residences, and includes the creation of furniture, art and gallery installations.
