    Tom Baker‘s opera The Gospel of the Red-Hot Stars was performed by Seattle Experimental Opera and recorded during his 2006 Jack Straw Artist Residency.

  • Johanna Kunin - Fireflies

    Johanna Kunin is this week’s Artist of the Week. This song was recorded during her 2004 Jack Straw artist residency.

  • Srivani Jade - Badlaa Re

    Srivani Jade is this week’s Artist of the Week. She has just released Meera’s Love, the album recorded during her 2008 Artist Residency.

  • Ellie Belew - Reverb

    Ellie Belew is this week’s Artist of the Week. Reverb is from Run Plant Fly, Belew’s 2003 Artist Support Program project, a CD based on her novel of the same name.

  • Mark Johnson - Leaving

    Mark Johnson is this week’s Artist of the Week. Big Metal Boxes – recordings of shipping containers turned into stringed instruments – was recorded as part of the 2005 Artist Support Program, and released by Noise Order Recordings.

  • Black Cat Orchestra - Gecti Dost Kervani

    Black Cat Orchestra is this week’s Artist of the Week. They recorded the album Mysteries Explained, which the song “Geçti Dost Kervani” appears on, during their 1999 Jack Straw artist residency.

  • August Denhard - Courante, Branles Gay

    This week’s artist is August Denhard. “Courante, Branles Gay” is from his album Cusp of the Baroque, recorded as part of the 2002 Artist Support Program. Denhard and oud player Munir Beken will be talking at Jack Straw’s next Composer Spotlight on Wednesday, September 9th.

  • Emma Zunz - Resting Place

    This week’s artist is Emma Zunz, a collaborative project between Annie Lewandowski and Cristin Miller. Their album Bride Laid Bare was recorded as part of the 2005 Artist Support Program, but has not been released.

  • Charlie Burks - Parts and Labor Extra

    This week’s artist is Charlie Burks, whose 2000 Artist Support Program project, Since the Ace, was a combined book and CD of his poems.

  • Vela Luka - Drmes Iz Zdencine

    This week’s artist is Vela Luka. “Drmes Iz Zdencine” is from the album Croatian Dance Ensemble, recorded by Doug Haire and Tom Stiles as part of the 1996 Jack Straw Artist Support Program, and released in 1997.
