Erin Elyse Burns | To Take the Shape of the Container
April 5 – June 8, 2019
To Take the Shape of the Container is a multimedia exhibition that interweaves experiences of contemplative practice with loss and persistent mental imagery. From visions of death, to repetitive acts of quietude – visual dichotomies structure the work. Drawing inspiration from the mind’s perception after many days in deep silence, the installation emphasizes minute details one might fixate upon when the white noise of city life is absent. Grounded in corporeality, sound is utilized to both enhance and exaggerate physical awareness. We can hear and feel our own blood pumping, if we pay close attention.
