Music and Technology Workshop with Michael Bisio and Timothy Hill
In November of 2023, Jack Straw Cultural Center and Arts and Visually Impaired Audiences (AVIA) presented an accessible workshop in partnership with the WA Department of Services for the Blind. Visiting professional musicians, recording artists, and educators Michael Bisio and Timothy Hill led a hands-on workshop centered around music creation and audio technology. The duo discussed their career paths as working musicians and explored the aspects of music composition, improvisation, and recording with a group of visually impaired youth and their families. Jesse Minkert of AVIA provided accessibility training for the artists.
Alongside Jack Straw audio engineers Daniel Guenther and Ayesha Ubayatilaka, Michael, Timothy, and the participants created and performed “Jugalbandi of Wind and Lo-Fi Rain,” an original composition, in Jack Straw’s professional recording studios.
