Broadview-Thomson Audio Myths 2014
In the winter of 2014, Shana Brown and Kelli Spann’s sixth grade students at Broadview-Thomson K-8 worked with Jack Straw’s professional writer, vocal coaches, and audio engineers to write, perform, create sound effects, and record their own audio myths.
Jack Straw Writer Laura Gamache worked with the students in class to help them develop and write their own myths, which Jack Straw’s engineers Camelia Jade and Tom Stiles and vocal coaches Christine Marie Brown, Andrew McGinn, and Meg McLynn helped them bring to life in the studio.
The Jack Straw artist team included writer Laura Gamache, audio engineers Camelia Jade and Tom Stiles, vocal coaches Christine Marie Brown, Andrew McGinn, and Meg McLynn, production interns Daniel Guenther and Jake Muir, and Executive Director Joan Rabinowitz. Special thanks to Broadview-Thomson sixth grade students, sixth grade teachers Shana Brown and Kelli Spann, Special Ed specialists Sylvia Weinman and Brian Robertson, Instructional Assistant Diane Kennedy, PTA liason Vickie Steinway-Provenza, field trip chaperones, and EMP education curator Bonnie Showers.
Audio Myths 2014 was produced by Broadview-Thomson sixth grade students and Jack Straw Cultural Center, in partnership with the EMP Museum, with the generous support of the Washington State Arts Commission, the National Endowment for the Arts, Target, and Wells Fargo.
